| The
Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is a division of the Associated
Students of the University of Arizona and serves as a liaison between
the students and Campus Health.
Twenty-five members participate in organizing health promotion
and prevention activities that are held regularly throughout the
year. In addition, SHAC contributes to student health policy through
our involvement with faculty committees and nationally recognized
health campaigns. In recent years SHAC has strived to raise money
for charity and give back to the U of A campus through UA-FIT.
Gillean Osterday is a sophomore majoring in Nutritional Science
with a minor in Chemistry. She is new to the SHAC family this year
and hopes to bring many new and exciting ideas to the committee.
She is especially excited about the new events this year including
a sports nutrition program and a charity date auction.
Kimberly Shipp
is a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics & Molecular
and Cellular Biology. She has been a member of SHAC for the past
two years and is very excited as the co-director this year to
implement more charity events and student health involvement on
campus. Providing students with health awareness is key to making
the University of Arizona a healthy campus.
Gillean and Kimberly work hard to make the University of Arizona campus
aware of health issues and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
This year they have more charity events in store to donate to local
and global organizations. They work closely with Campus Health, CAPS,
Well-U, and UAPD to bring together students, faculty and the community
to address present health issues. This year promises to be full of
successful and educational programs, so come out and enjoy our events!
